Be silly. Be kind. Be weird. There's no time for anything else.

Growing up in the equestrian world on Long Island, New York, it was imperative that you had an immaculate look. From shiny boots, fitted jackets and breeches to an impeccably clean horse, everything mattered. That also included your weight. I was a successful rider, although these pressures led me down a rocky path with anorexia. I struggled for most of my young adult years, but knowing that there was a way to pick yourself up and feel good by finding happiness within yourself was, by far, the best thing I've ever learned. Movemeant Foundation is incredibly significant for girls like me--letting them know that it's not about what's on the outside, but how big your heart is! My goal is to create a healthier and more positive environment for young women. I want women to learn how to support each other!!

Stay present. Stay passionate. Stay open.

Growing up, I played a ton of sports--soccer, softball, swimming, skiing, figure skating and even speed skating! In high school, I focused on theater, but once again found a fitness community I loved when I started going to SoulCycle. I love the mentality of group fitness, where we can build each other up to be confident and healthy. I'm so excited to promote positive body image, the joy of sweat, and self-love as a part of the Movemeant team!

Fun Fact: I've travelled to thirteen different countries--nine of them within ten weeks!

Be your own kind of beautiful! Love yourself!

I spent many years worrying too much about my image--focusing on staying thin, looking a certain way and "fitting in." When I witnessed bullying in high school, however, I felt I needed to redirect my focus to lifting women up and making them feel beautiful inside and out. I hope to shine light on those who haven't quite found the spark within themselves. I cannot wait to make an impact in my community through Movemeant!

Fun Fact: I'm from a larger family: two younger sisters, one younger brother, two older brothers and one older sister. I am smack in the middle!

You can do this! Keep moving even when you don't want to, you just might surprise yourself.

One of my favorite quotes is that coined by Nike, "If you have a body, you are an athlete." I firmly believe in this statement and I want to share that message with every woman who is too intimidated to go the gym, and every young girl who is too afraid to try out for a sport because she is worried about not being good enough. As a personal trainer, this ability to influence change and inspire is the part of my job I love the most. I can't wait to do that on a larger platform as a part of the Movemeant team, sharing the message that "You are enough!"

Live the life you love, love the life you live.

Six years after battling body image issues as a dancer and cheerleader in high school, I discovered yoga: something that helped me in becoming my true, confident self. Now, as a vinyasa yoga teacher, I get to empower others through movement and change their outlook on exercise from a dreaded experience to one that they love. The body is capable of doing amazing things, and I can't wait to encourage as many people as I can to love and appreciate their bodies!

Fun Fact: I once went bungee jumping off of a 160 foot tower in Thailand.

Be honest, positive and driven.

After going through a bad spell of weight gain in college, I decided one day that I cared too much about myself to go down that road. I started living a healthier lifestyle and eventually started blogging about my journey. Since then, I have gained confidence in not only my appearance, but also in my abilities. I now fiercely go after what I want because I believe in myself. I want to share this confidence with others and see them become their best selves both physically and mentally! I want them to go for their wildest and craziest goals!

Fun Fact: I've lived in over ten cities in my lifetime.

YAAASSSS Elani.

After years of dance training and an eating disorder, I know firsthand what an impact leading a confident, healthy lifestyle has on a person's self-worth and feelings of potential. Using mindset work, yoga, meditation and nutritional healing, I was able to heal myself and now use my past to help others as a life coach and masterclass dance teacher. I can't wait to help breakdown women's self-imposed limitations and empower them to get whatever they want--including vibrant health and well-being!

Be fearless.

A former victim of society's unrealistic standards, I truly understand the importance of letting women know they are beautiful no matter what shape, size, or color they are. I want them to know that they do not have to fit into an arbitrary mold society has set for them. They can and should love their bodies at this exact moment! I want them to know they're capable of doing whatever they set their minds to--nothing should limit them. I am so excited to continue spreading this message through Movemeant, in addition to blogging about fitness, food and lifestyle on my own site.

Never stop fighting for what you want. At the end of the day, it's about how you feel and think about yourself. Forget the nonsense and keep going!

I get to promote living a healthy lifestyle on a day-to-day basis with my career in group fitness instructing and personal training, but I'm extremely excited to now take my journey of helping others to the next level through my Ambassadorship with Movemeant. My goal is to help others see that your size doesn't define you. You move because you love to move! I want to get people to start looking at the positives in each other, even just on first glance. I'm determined to help rid all the categorizing based on weight, size, and shape, and give young women the strength to fight for what they want out of their lives!

Fun Fact: I'm obsessed with movies! Going to the theater is one of my favorite things to do besides working out.

Life isn't some narcissistic game you play. It all matters--every sin, every regret, every affliction.

Never have I felt as comfortable, empowered or daring as I did when participating in the Dare to Bare NYC event! The vibes from all those women and men were out of this world!! Now, I am so excited to be a part of the Foundation as an Ambassador. My goal as a Movemeant Ambassador is to incorporate my role in my community as a Police Officer into my role with the Foundation. To be able to promote physical and mental strength personally and professionally in a positive and healthy way is a dream come true. I'm determined to let women of all ages know that it's ok to personify strength, to not feel ashamed for not fitting the stereotypical idea of what a woman needs to look like or how she should conduct herself.

It always seems impossible until it's done.

At the end of high school, my 15 years in dance came to a close and I almost immediately became obsessive about working out and calorie counting. It was an extremely hard time for myself and those around me. Fast forward to today, and I am finally feeling like I'm on the right track--eating healthy, exercising often, and allowing myself to live a life full of joy rather than being constrained by anxiety over food and weight. I needed a voice during my dark time to guide me out of the unhealthy cycle. With Movemeant, I can be that voice and inspiration. I am so excited to not only help battle the misconceptions about body expectations and images but also encourage young women to get up and move so that they can find this truth for themselves at a young age. This. is. SO. powerful. And I'm honored to be a part of that journey.

You have made it this far, let's see how far it'll go!

After having my first child, I started gaining weight despite continuing my life-long dedication to sports and fitness. I was diagnosed with thyroid disease and immediately because very self conscious. I spent a  year battling the ebbing and flowing weight gain and weightloss, but now have learned and embraced that my size is not a hinder to my passion. More people should be aware that size is not what matters in the journey. Rather, it's about how you feel! My goal is to share this message with as many people as possible and help them love themselves.

Everyday and experience brings challenge, and without challenge there is no change...remember you are strong enough to embrace both the challenge and the change so that you can live a life you love and that you can love yourself. Breath, dream, believe, keep having faith in your journey and it will all happen!

After earning my masters in Social Work with a Clinical Focus, I decided my heart wasn't in it. I felt I needed to pursue a career in fitness and wellness in order to achieve my goal of empowering and influencing as many young women as possible. I want them to see that movement can be enjoyable and doesn't need to be about maintaining a "perfect" image. Through openness and honesty about my own experiences with body dysmorphia, obesity, eating disorders, and the like, I hope to serve as a relatable example of someone who has worked through these difficult issues. I'm excited to show young women that they can find ways to move that they love and look forward to, not because they are trying to be the skinniest they can be, but because they are learning to love their bodies and selves.

Be awesome. Be brave. Be strong. And eat pizza.

Even as a fitness junkie, I have my own body image issues to overcome and Movemeant helped me feel more comfortable in my own skin. Now as a returning ambassador, I'm most interested in working with and supporting other Dallas ambassadors.
It's the most gratifying feeling after each workout to know that I really did some work. I feel my best in sweat. I also love sports and being outside. Dallas has beautiful summer evenings and its best spent on a sand volleyball court with friends.

My Choice of Movement:  Intense strength and cardio workouts!

Fun Fact:  I love playing sports! Summer is my favorite time to catch a pick up game of flag football or sand volleyball.  Also a huge fan of broomball, because why not?!

This is your moment to surprise yourself, take your own breath away and WERK.

It took a single moment to change way I viewed myself, it was during my first SoulCycle ride and the instructor calmly said, "take your own breath away". That was all I needed in order to realize I am worth it. My gift to help others came with the realization that we are all worth working hard, not for others but for ourselves. We can single handedly change the way we see our own reflection if we realize that we do not need anyone else to sweep us off our feet, we can take our own breath away by being entirely who we are, humans who are perfectly imperfect!

My Choice of Movement:  Sonoma Cycle Fit

Fun Fact:  I love to make little kids do jumping jacks! Have you ever seen a 3 year old do jumping jacks? I promise you will find pure joy in the lack of coordination and pure happiness they exude.

If you want something you never had, you have to do something you've never done.

In leading a full schedule of fitness classes each week, I became passionate about the importance of a healthy mind/body relationship and created the brand Better Stronger Tougher in an effort to change and empower my community on the most individual level, beginning with the most important resource we all have: our health. It is through the media channels of Better Stronger Tougher that I seek to motivate, inspire and bring awareness to the power behind a strong body and a sound mind, and use these platforms to contribute to the call for a societal shift such as the motion.

Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.

I started exploring my passion for health and fitness by creating my blog, Sunshine & Superfoods, a few years ago. As I became more involved and found that I was really enjoyed sharing great knowledge to my readers, it inspired me to continue my education in these subjects to make a bigger impact. I myself suffered from eating anxiety and restricted eating habits during my college years and was lucky enough to work with a health coach post-graduation. The experience changed my life and inspired me to pursue a permanent healthier lifestyle. I am now a certified health and wellness coach.

My Choice of Movement:  Pure Barre & running, but I do love a good spin class now and then!

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. - Calvin Coolidge

My body image is something I've struggled with throughout my high school and college years. I adapted a healthy life style early on in my life but took it to the extreme. Although my mind said "I was healthy", my body did not agree. I'm happy to say that I've finally found balance in my life. I want to be an example for girls who struggle with their body image. Every woman deserves to love their body and feel great in their own skin.
